It's definitely way more cliche than Rurouni Kenshin though, and sometimes I can't even tell this was made by the same person that did RK. I'm on episode 22 now.

I don't think you get what Slash means. When he says "this is shounen," he doesn't mean "this is a show of the shounen demographic" He means that Busou Renkin is basically the physical embodiment of shounen anime. Oh, my bad, so it's one of "those" shows. I think you took that to be a bad thing when Peytral meant it as a good thing.

She's super kawaii uguu, naive, cheerful, and kindhearted with a pinch of badass. The first episode leaves a lot of questions, especially since her character seems very unrealistic but it's been getting better with each episode since then. Even though they've introduced quite a few characters already, they manage to be surprisingly interesting without having a lot of depth to them at this point. No cliche tsunderes, moeblobs, etc. thus far.
