Valkyria Chronicles is basically a shining example of everything I could ever want in an anime. Great characters, a plot that's not needlessly convoluted but also has depth, a pretty good lack of awful anime cliches, a European setting, a good balance of romance, drama, and humor, and a great overall presentation. /o/ Yay! Sad that it's finished, though.

Love Kimi ni Todoke! Although I raged on finding that the anime stopped without finishing the story. No Hetalia for me. The fandom turned me off of it, and it doesn't look like my sort of show anyway.

Did we watch the same anime? You have Susie, your shy pretty girl. Marina, your silent badass with a weakness for cute animals. Jann, your stereotypical gay guy. Edy, your tsundere with twintails. Alicia, your other tsundere with twintails. Faldio, your pretty boy. And, like most anime adaptations, they really took a lot of liberties. The anime stripped Alicia of all of her character traits and made her some useless girl who could do nothing except wait for Welkin and Faldio to save her. Oh, and for some reason they made her fawn over Faldio (Where, in the actual game, I think they only spoke once or twice >_>;) Speaking of Faldio, they took a character who got 20 minutes of screentime in the game and made him more important than Welkin for half the series until you-know-what happened. You-know-who's death also felt extremely rushed and came out of nowhere in the anime. And then the ending. Blargh. |
