It still sold more than SAO despite being a lesser-known series, so my faith in the anime community is restored. Then again, I don't know how popular the two of them are in Japan so for all I know they could be equally well-known over there. Oh yeah, that too. Satty usually works shifts on the days I don't work so it takes longer to watch a series with him than alone.

I haven't watched them but if I were you I'd just read the manga because A) The movies apparently take a lot of stuff out of the manga and B) It's probably going to take forever for the movies to actually catch up with where the manga is considering they only now just finished the same arc as the anime. Plus in a few years you can watch the movies as a recap while you wait forever for the next volume of the manga.

The slow start in the first half just made the second half that much better. The unnecessary fanservice was kind of a let down but the epic mech vs space-thing fights, time dilation and INAZUMA KICK!!!! made up for that. Characters weren't too shabby for such a short series as well. badass max/10
