Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

lolis are awful.
This is objectively wrong and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Hm, HJ, can you explain the appeal of lolis? Again, I'm interested in why people like the things they like.

I don't hate tsundere as a concept but I hate the way it's handled a lot of the time, where they end up just being social retags that only know how to say "baka" and act abusive to whoever they're tsundere towards.

Or something.

lolis are ESPECIALLY awful when used as romantic interests. In other cases they can be done well, though, I suppose.

As for tsundere's I kinda agree with Peytral, the super abusive ones with violent moodswings are generally not well done (I'd make an exception for Asuka of Evangelion, though I know Peytral won't agree with me). Generally I prefer what vndb calls a 'classic tsundere' where the emotional swing happens over time. As opposed to the 'modern tsundere' where it happens instantly and oftentimes rapidly.

I think some people find tsunderes appealing because you have to "work" to get to see the "real" them instead of them being all hostile all the time. It's like character development; she hates you at first then maybe she doesn't.

Problem is quite a bit of them do this badly and it's like fake character development. Also quite a bit of them are overblown. In a lot of those cases if you flip the genders, suddenly it's not so cool anymore. Oh, and for some tsunderes being tsundere is like their entire characterization. It's to the point where you can take tsunderes from different anime, swap their personality, and notice no difference.

Incidentally, Rin Tohsaka from Fate/Stay Night is a good tsundere that has a personality, personal conflict, and characterization beyond "BAKA!"->"I love you~"

That's pretty interesting, Gil. I can see why that's appealing if done well.

So then, folks, what's the problem with magical girl lolis?

Thanks Poui.

I for one enjoyed Cardcaptor Sakura

I've watched about nothing else in the genre though.

I did not know magical girl lolis were different from regular lolis. Is it an issue of extra sugary-ness and less substance? I haven't seen many real magical girls shows, (like the kind aimed at young girls) and they don't seem to have much substance, but many girls my age I know seem to like them.

Still waiting for a Tsukihime animu.

Also, I feel like a pedophile just reading Fate/Kaleid Liner.

Madoka is pretty much the only magical girl series I've seen (that I recall, outside some Sailor Moon on Toonami back in the day), which is funny since it's supposed to be a deconstruction of the genre anyway.

It more than makes up for all that stuff with it's characters (no Saber whoring! It's a Type Moon miracle!) and plot. I mean if even SATTY can read it...
