And yeah, it was pretty obvious that a lot of stuff, or at least developement, was left out. There were dozens of situations and things that came up without any previously discussed or eluded developement, that seemed to come out of no where. Which just made a lot of the events that happened seem random and arbitrary. I'll just assume that the VN covered all that. It was pretty good I guess. I suppose I'll watch Fate/Zero now.

However, pretty much everything between episode 16 and Gilgamesh's appearance was a stupid attempt to shove the other two routes into things, resulting in several parts of that arc being outright bs and contradictory to canon (Rule Breaker doesn't work that way, etc). That said, even the other parts had some odd changes like Spoiler: click to toggle Lancer vs Gilgamesh; lasted 30 seconds in the anime, 12 hours offscreen in the VN.

There were definitely a few things that they could have been explained better. Playing the VN now(had to give in to my brother's nagging eventually) and although I already know what happens in the Fate route I'm liking it a lot more. It's paced much slower and all the magic and such actually has a decent explanation plus I actually like Shirou in the VN, whereas in the anime I didn't have much of an opinion of him. The Fate Zero anime is complete awesome though. Also, as much as I loved DMC3, that song gets SO ANNOYING after a while, it quickly became one of those games that you play while listening to other music for me just because of that damn song.
