Sorry, I've been used to magnet torrents lately, which are .exe. My bad. But I suppose that's asking for trouble. NyaaTorrent... I shall try that. Incidentally, just finished Clannad episode 9. Bawled naturally. That's the downside with watching subs -- sometimes it's hard to read what's being said through tears. >_> |

Magnet links aren't executables either. They're literally just text. They look like this:
It's just a list of means with which you can find seeds/trackers/peers for a particular file. Some parts point to your 'traditional' trackers, while others bits give you hashes/whatever which give you the ability to just kind of poke at the internet with the hopes that a seed is floating out there somewhere. |

This topic has reminded me of how Torrents in general are such a beautiful concept/system for data distribution. |

Huh, so you're right, Ninja. I just double-checked, and that is indeed the case. Nevermind, I clearly have no idea what I'm talking about. 8D |

Torrents actually are used for a lot of official updates, like patches for games. It helps companies ensure everyone will get them, since someone's internet might be spotty and cut out, ruining a direct download, whereas a torrent is unaffected. And given that there will always be seeders, that's never a concern. Granted, I don't really know the details of torrents, either, only that you basically connect to other people with the file and download it from them, byte by byte, and the program puts it together, like a jigsaw puzzle. It's remarkably convenient for queuing up and leaving, and is considerably safer than direct downloading, in that you can see every file before hand (as opposed to just a .rar or .zip). |

Torrents also don't slow down your Internet connection to nil if it's a slow connection, like streaming or direct downloads do... usually. I pretty much have to torrent everything over this crappy broadband connection. |

Over-Time doesn't sub anime. Besides, he neglected to also mention subgroups like Evetaku, rori, GotWoot, WhyNot, Mazui, etc. |
