I was about to get started on BTOOOM!, but now I think I might...not. Is it really so bad? On the contrary, I think I'll start watching it now. The violence is pretty tame. I thought the rape depictions were pretty sexualized and overdone. There are like, three rapey parts in episode 2, and apparently the manga is full of full on rape porn, but it's toned down for the anime. So it's tolerable, but not really everyone's cup of tea.

It's actually kinda decent. It knows when to be serious and when to be silly and the characters have a lot of life to them. It's also got quite a lot of fanservice. Still, first episode, could go either way. Oh, and one character has a move where he blocks attacks with a Tetris Block Shield. That was a neat touch.

True Name: simplechild	Went to the Madoka movie screenings. Total recap of the series. Some nuances in cinematography are different but it's practically watching the TV series again, which I don't really mind. Considered buying a Kyubey scarf for $33 (It's basically a plushie with longer ears to wrap around your neck). Decided against it. Kind of experiencing anti-buyer's remorse right now. One of my friends went to the screening with his Mami dakimakura. Put her in a ~~binder~~ suitcase for ease of travel. Got himself posted on the official Facebook page if anyone cares.

Having just watched that episode, I've come to the conclusion that it was bad not because of all the fanservice, but because it was just bad in general. That boob-fondle might've saved the whole episode. That said, when I think Nintendo vs. Sega, I don't think of dark, edgy animoos with boob fondling at all.

From what I was reading into, it had a different art director, and the entire thing looked... off. Thankfully next episode looks like it'll be back to how it was before. Hopefully we can make some sense of it.
