I voted Neutral Good, but then I took the quiz, got True Neutral, and now I think about it, it fits me. True Neutral- A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction. Detailed Results: Alignment: Lawful Good ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (21) Neutral Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (23) Chaotic Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13) Lawful Neutral -- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (22) True Neutral ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (24) Chaotic Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (14) Lawful Evil ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (14) Neutral Evil ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (16) Chaotic Evil ---- XXXXXX (6) Law & Chaos: Law ----- XXXXXXXXXXX (11) Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13) Chaos --- XXX (3) Good & Evil: Good ---- XXXXXXXXXX (10) Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXX (11) Evil ---- XXX (3) |

I usually start with a given alignment (which is what I entend to play the character as), then adjust it after a while if I realize I'm not really following that alignment. |

Same. I sometimes plan for an alignment shift over the course of the game, but I generally start out as what I expect to play the whole time. |

That doesn't make any sense. What, everyone you play never had a childhood to take into account how they react to people, or what moral choices they should make or their awareness toward laws? |

My characters start off as a blank slate. A lot of character development is involved. I have a basic personality, but as far as who they are... I just made them. Instead of assigning a designated alignment only to find out I'm playing them totally differently, I instead build towards whatever alignment they wind up becoming. Just because you have something in mind at the start, that doesn't mean that that's how they'll be in the end after all. I may have wanted an enforcer of the law in mind, but they wind up becoming a total asshole and wind up being Lawful Evil in the end. |

I assume Effex's comment is directed toward Role? In that case, the important part of what she's saying is "unless there's a background reason." Granted, it sounds like I take a more liberal view of what constitutes a legitimate background reason, but still. |

I was thinking Neutral Good tending towards Lawful before I took the quiz. Quiz results: In a nutshell, True Neutral tending towards Law and Good so I wasn't too horribly far off the mark. |

On the quiz: 17. Do members of your home town shun, avoid, or mock you? Yes, their small minds can't handle anyone outside the norm. Some do, because I don't always fit in. No, I'm generally seen as normal. No, I set the standard for what is normal in my community. None of those answers fit. >.>; |

Well, I redid the quiz based on if my community were actually worth a damn, which changed about two answers, and I got: Neutral Good- A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable. Detailed Results: Alignment: Lawful Good ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (25) Neutral Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (27) Chaotic Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (17) Lawful Neutral -- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (21) True Neutral ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (23) Chaotic Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13) Lawful Evil ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13) Neutral Evil ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (15) Chaotic Evil ---- XXXXX (5) Law & Chaos: Law ----- XXXXXXXXXXX (11) Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13) Chaos --- XXX (3) Good & Evil: Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (14) Neutral - XXXXXXXXXX (10) Evil ---- XX (2) Which is what I originally thought anyway. I wonder where those two Evil answers came from? |

Though I couldn't really answer some of the questions honestly, have a result. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction. Detailed Results: Alignment: Lawful Good ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (19) Neutral Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (20) Chaotic Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (16) Lawful Neutral -- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (22) True Neutral ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (23) Chaotic Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (19) Lawful Evil ----- XXXXXXXXX (9) Neutral Evil ---- XXXXXXXXXX (10) Chaotic Evil ---- XXXXXX (6) Law & Chaos: Law ----- XXXXXXXX (8) Neutral - XXXXXXXXX (9) Chaos --- XXXXX (5) Good & Evil: Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXX (11) Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (14) Evil ---- X (1) rofl, one question away from Lawful Neutral. |

My results on the second test: Lawful-Evil 28% Good, 34% Chaotic Plane of Existence: Baator, "The Nine Hells". Most notable inhabitants: Devils - mortal enemies of the Demons. Examples of Lawful-Evils (Ethically Lawful, Morally Evil) Rufus Shin-Ra (FFVII) President Shin-Ra (FFVII) Any Shin-Ra Officer Hitler & the Nazis Mao Tze Dong Darth Vadar and the Stormtroopers The Daleks Dolores Umbridge "Unjust Judge" "Cop on the Take" "Mafia Lawyer" Respects the laws of the group, as long as those laws do not clash with his or her evil moral alignment. The lawful evil person follows the letter of the law and seeks to pervert the spirit of it. Will keep their word if they give it Would attack an unarmed foe Will use poisons Will not help those in need Prefers to work with others Responds well to higher authority Trustful of organizations but will seek to exploit the rules and regulations to their advantage. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Lawful Evil "Diabolical" "Dominator" A lawful evil [person] methodically takes what he wants within the limits of his code of conduct without regard for whom it hurts. He cares about tradition, loyalty, and order but not about freedom, dignity, or life. He plays by the rules but without mercy or compassion. He is comfortable in a hierarchy and would like to rule, but is willing to serve. He is loath to break promises, and is therefore very cautious about giving his word unless a bargain is clearly in his favour. This reluctance comes partly from his nature and partly because he depends on order to protect himself from those who oppose him on moral grounds. Some lawful evil villains have particular taboos, such as not killing in cold blood (but having underlings do it) or not letting children come to harm (if it can be helped). They feel these personal morals put them above unprincipled villains. Many lawful evil [people] use society and its laws for selfish advantages, exploiting the letter of the law over its spirit whenever it best suits their interests. Some lawful evil people and creatures commit themselves to evil with a zeal like that of a crusader committed to good. Beyond being willing to hurt others for their own ends, they take pleasure in spreading evil as an end unto itself. They may also see doing evil as part of a duty to an evil deity or master. Lawful evil is sometimes called "diabolical", because devils are the epitome of lawful evil. Other examples of lawful evil [people] include tyrants, corrupt officials, and mafia bosses. Lawful evil is methodical, intentional, and frequently successful devotion to selfishness or evil itself. Personally, I agree with the first results more - Lawful Neutral with Evil tendencies actually fits me better than pure Lawful Evil, when I think about it. |

See, this is why I dislike attempting to apply things to -myself.- Several of the questions lack the genuine response I would give merely because a system of specific categories inherently dislikes, even discourages outliers. Take, for instance, number 11 of the one Squee linked.
I, personally, would request repayment but would not expect nor concern myself overmuch about if it did come back. Option 1 is clearly out, option 2 still indicates that you expect and will receive payment at some point, and the other two are out simply because I -would- request it. Flexible as the system is, there are things it cannot and never will be able to accommodate without explicitly becoming a sliding scale. -EDIT: And now it's asking about things like following laws. Of course most people follow the laws, or else they'd be [radio edit]ing jailed. And this answer just makes me laugh my ass off: ->Yes, I've done similar things before. Yup, alright, mmhmm, suuuure you've slipped poisons into drinks before. Call me when you get out of your loony bin. DOUBLE EDIT: I'm now certain they believe whoever taking this quiz has stepped into DnD-land for real. I know they're testing ethics and morals but they could at least try to avoid complete fantasy in their questions, it'd help treat the thing as a genuine examination of self rather than a snicker-fest as they seem to assume I'm some potentially king-slaying, horse-cart-riding, magic-flinging freedom-fighter. TRIPLE EDIT: Done I'm fairly certain that I got this only because I basically balanced out evil with good and had a huge pile of Neutral. Most of those questions could not be answered honestly because my true answer doesn't exist on the quiz. I really don't think this is accurate, at least so far as tendencies go. I might be neutral due to choosing between "good" and "evil" on my own terms, but looking at the quiz results I presume I lean more good than anything. Also, that Law ranking is somewhat inaccurate, I feel, because I follow law due to "It's convenient to me so I don't get [radio edit]ing jailed" rather than "Law is true, law is right, law is might, follow law." Eh, whatever. Edited by Hoofs, Apr 22 2010, 06:26 PM.
