True, I did overlook that. And I admit I fall into the same trap with Chaotic Neutral, because I've almost always seen it used in one of two ways: either as an excuse to be evil in practice but not on paper, or because "my charrie is so randum lol pie!!1 XD"

I've taken enough of these to know fairly well I'm Neutral Good, possibly definitely with Chaotic tendencies.

@Role: Your threats fall on deaf ears to those who have no reason to take you seriously. And I most certainly have absolutely no reason to take you seriously.
Wait, people take me seriously? Since when?

I'm Neutral Good with, as Steve, slight leanings towards Chaotic sometimes. xP

Role, I thought Lawful Evil wasn't strictly legal speaking, but rather Evil for the sake of establishing an order in the universe?
I always found it was easier to understand the system of you replaced "Lawful" with "Orderly" or whatnot. xP
Either or, actually. Both Lawmakers and Lawyers would fall under Lawful Evil. Using Law as a weapon, and making Laws for evil.

As you've no doubt seen with me, I do neither. And yet I am Chaotic Neutral. It's not that I want to be random. No. I always have a clear goal in mind. I prefer to be unpredictable. Not random. Striving to be unpredictable merely makes it difficult for enemies to determine what I'm trying to do. Randomness is hurtful to my plans. And even so, I end up being predictable in certain areas. Additionally, with chaotic Neutral people, you can usually predict that they will take the action that best helps them in the long run. Unless they're Chaotic Stupid, in which case they'll take short run, or even randomness, I suppose. I also don't see myself as evil, although according to the test I lean towards it, but as I said, everyone has a different view of good and evil.

So yeah.

That's my point. No one DOES take you seriously.
So then you thought I was being serious, and thus needed to make the post or something? You're weird.

Anywho, posting my results from the quiz.

You Are:

Lawful Neutral

Lawful Neutral- A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to him. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot. However, lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.

Alignment:
Lawful Good ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13)
Neutral Good ---- XXXXXXX (7)
Chaotic Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXX (12)
Lawful Neutral -- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (23)
True Neutral ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (17)
Chaotic Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (22)
Lawful Evil ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (21)
Neutral Evil ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (15)
Chaotic Evil ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (20)

Law & Chaos:
Law ----- XXXXXXXXXXX (11)
Neutral - XXXXX (5)
Chaos --- XXXXXXXXXX (10)

Good & Evil:
Good ---- XX (2)
Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXX (12)
Evil ---- XXXXXXXXXX (10)

You know, my hatred for Lawful Good comes from a stupid reason. I HATE how Paladins are restricted to Lawful Good in D&D. I can understand being restricted to the alignment of the god they follow, but seriously? Lawful Good ONLY? Thus, Pansy-ass Paladin, and by association, Pansy-ass Lawful Good.

Chaotic Neutral- A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). A chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it. Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom from both society's restrictions and a do-gooder's zeal. However, chaotic neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it seeks to eliminate all authority, harmony, and order in society.

I think 4e also makes the variants part of its core rules.

Anyway, yeah, I can understand the dislike in that respect. Poorly-played paladins can be the bane of a party even more easily than most other classes.

And what of those whom follow Neutral deities? You only have Paladins of the four extremes. If you have a Neutral Good Deity, they may not be too happy if they Paladin is too Lawful or Chaotic, y'know? They need to be representin'! Plus, there's also the limits on character development that can happen. If you have a fall from grace, you don't have the ability to keep those powers or switch deities to my knowledge.

Invent your own. Nothing really stopping you.

Also: a Cleric of a Neutral Good god can be Lawful or Chaotic Good as well. I doubt a paladin would be bound similarly.

Neutral Evil- A neutral evil villain does whatever he can get away with. He is out for himself, pure and simple. He sheds no tears for those he kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. He has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make him any better or more noble. On the other hand, he doesnt have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has. Some neutral evil villains hold up evil as an ideal, committing evil for its own sake. Most often, such villains are devoted to evil deities or secret societies. Neutral evil is the best alignment you can be because you can advance yourself without regard for others. However, neutral evil can be a dangerous alignment because it represents pure evil without honor and without variation.

Well, it's a step up from when I was Chaotic Evil last time. In reality, i'm probably more of

Except the D&D Rulebook? Wasn't aware we can come up with our own classes and variants on them, you know.

I actually had a rationale at one point for why neutral paladins can't exist. Something about paladinhood implicitly ruling out neutrality or something, I don't actually remember.

But like Stevie Wonder said, if you don't like it, make it up. You're free to do whatever the hell you want in your campaign.

Edit: And yes, you can come up with anything you want. The book's not going to bite you if you deviate from it.
