I have just been told that there is a Mt. Mortar in HG/SS. After some careful thinking, I came to a conclusion based on this fact. The word 'Mortar' sounds like 'Mordor'. This set off my train of logic to follow. You see, Mordor despite the nature experienced by the Fellowship is actually quite the beautiful place, full of vegetation and fertile farmland provided by volcanic soot. It provides food for Sauron's forces. Mt. Doom is part of the Southern half of Mordor, where much of the volcanos are. Using this connection, one may make the conclusion that Gold treks through Mordor and Mt. Doom. Further, however, is that Gold is the protagonist of G/S. The protagonist of the Lord of the Rings is Frodo. The connection - Gold is, in fact, Frodo! Though, one cannot say this is mutually exclusive - the Lord of the Rings came out much earlier than Pokemon G/S. All Golds are Frodo, but not all Frodos are Gold. However, this revelation implies that since Mt. Mortar isn't the end of the game, you cannot make the connection that Mt. Mortar is Mt. Doom. Although this shows clearly, as Mt. Mortar is right in the center of Johto, not in an unhospitable half of the area. This isn't a problem. You see, since Gold is Frodo and you can argue that the real end of the game is after battling Red on Mt. Silver... ...You can make the connection that Mt. Silver is Mt. Doom! Mt. Silver is in a rockied over and much less hospitible area of Johto, much like how Mt. Doom is for Mordor. Johto is Mordor, of course, going by all this, so the connection is strengthened. The fight with Red at the summit of Mt. Silver is an analogue of the final struggle between Gollum and Frodo, and his disappearance afterward is when Gollum fell into Mt. Doom. Of course. This also makes the connection that Red is, in fact, Gollum. But he wasn't always. The Red in Pokemon R/B was his original self, Smeagol. The rank of 'Champion' is perhaps a symbol for the One Ring, and Blue was Smeagol's brother, Deagol. The final battle of R/B, with Champion Blue, was Smeagol's murder of Deagol and subsequent theft of the One Ring. FLAWLESS LOGIC Edited by Effex, Mar 25 2010, 04:16 PM.

This only works if Mordor=Mortar. Which clearly isn't true. |

Silence! It works just fine! Mt. Silver is in a rockied over and much less hospitible area of Johto, much like how Mt. Doom is for Mordor. Johto is Mordor, of course. The Mt. Mortar/Mordor connection simply set this off. Effex. Your logic is flawed. Déagol was never Sméagol's brother. They were just friends from the same clan living in the Gladden Fields upon the Great River Anduin. Of course, you would never know that unless you read the crazy long and arduous Chapter 2: Shadows of the Past in Volume I, Book I, in The Fellowship of the Ring – as well as some appendices listed after Volume III, Book VI, in The Return of the King. |
