http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/****ing,_Austria A couple of fun tidbits: "The village is especially popular with British tourists; as a local tour guide explained, "The Germans all want to see Mozart's house in Salzburg, the Americans want to see where The Sound of Music was filmed. The Japanese want Hitler's birthplace in Braunau. But for the British, it's all about [radio edit]ing." " . . . there was an 'obsession with [radio edit]ing'. Lindlbauer recalled how she had to explain to a British female tourist "that there were no [radio edit]ing postcards." "Everyone here knows what it means in English, but for us [radio edit]ing is [radio edit]ing — and it's going to stay [radio edit]ing." |

"will not stand for the [radio edit]ing signs being removed. It may be very amusing for you British, but [radio edit]ing is simply [radio edit]ing to us. What is this big [radio edit]ing joke? It is puerile." I feel bad for the people who live there, it must be obnoxious. BUT ITS STILL HILARIOUS. |

Now why didn't they feature that in Anastasia? The Empress could have also offered a reward for anyone who found that! |

Aeon told me about this.... "Putting the problem in context, however, tz-online notes that numerous villages across the border in Germany have names that are "unfortunate" even in German, including Affendorf (Monkey Village), Faulebutter (Putrid Butter), Fickmühlen ([radio edit] Mill), Himmelreich (Kingdom of Heaven), Katzenhirn (Cat Brain), Plöd (Stupid), Regenmantel (Raincoat), Sklavenhaus (Slave House) and Warzen (Warts)." See also * Dildo, Newfoundland and Labrador http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dildo,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador Yeahum. Odd town names are odd. |

I always snicker when I see Effingham (a fairly large city in Illinois) on highway signs, but it can't compare to living in a place called [radio edit]ing. XD |

It sounds like you're saying F-ing ham. F-ing is the shortened version of [radio edit]ing. Unless I'm reading Effingham wrong and it's pronounced some other way. |
