Hey there, this was an idea spawned in Chrono's livestream chat. So I figured I could set up an IRC room and, considering how the rest of us were sort of itching to play after discussing it, we could use it to play DnD online. Which really wouldn't be too hard, the only problem is that you'd need pretty much everything online with the exception of the player's handbook. And even then, if you really need it, I could provide you with a .pdf of it. That isn't too hard. And dice would not be a problem at all, what with the script I have. Actually, use this to keep track of your character sheets. It's much easier. We would appreciate it if anyone would offer to DM, though. I guess I could if you really needed it, but I've never done it before so I'd probably suck. The room is on Darkmyst server, room #zvdnd. Don't ask what the ZV stands for. Alright, I figured I should probably link mIRC here. When putting in your server ('servers' under 'Connect'), scroll down to 'Darkmyst' and select that. Unless theres nothing there, in which select 'Add' and put 'Darkmyst' in both 'Description' and 'Server'. Select 'Add'. Then click on the new Server, press 'Select'. You'll be brought back to your original window, select 'Connect'. When you connect, ignore and close out what pops up and just type in /join #zvdnd and you'll be there. Also, my character sheet. Because I feel like sharing. |

I'm totally in. Whether I'll need the Player's Handbook or not depends mostly on whether I choose to stick with what I know (Wizard/Sorcerer) or something else (such as a Cleric to some generally-overlooked god, or some physical combat-oriented class) |

I don't really know how IRC works, but I would love to join in. Also, this might work a bit better for character sheets, since it's an actual program that lets you go back and modify them over and over again. Edit: Also, if anybody needs any of the books (assuming we're talking 3.5), I have or can find downloads for almost any one you need. Edited by The Phantom Squee, Feb 7 2010, 09:58 PM.

Oh, I forgot to mention I have a couple of third-party books too, if anybody wants those. Specifically, Enchantment: Fire in the Mind, Secrets of Pact Magic, and all the free Pact Magic extras I could find on the website.

Considering how most of the Temple seems to not have any idea how to use IRC, I just put up a link and quick tutorial up on the first post. |

Those of you not using Windows, keep in mind that mIRC is a Windows-only program. That being said, those of you on Macs might want to give Colloquy a try. You can join the server by clicking on the "New" button in the small window that comes up. When it's connected to the darkmyst IRC server, click on the Join Room button (it's right next to New, which should now read "Disconnect") and type in the room information. Boom, you're in. And if the interface that comes up confuses you, it should look something like this when you're done: ![]() Just remember to put in a nickname! Those of you with Linux, and/or those of you with Firefox, Chatzilla is an IRC addon for Firefox. Just start it up, and in the window that comes up, type /server irc.darkmyst.org. Then, in the new window that comes up, type /j #zvdnd and you'll be good to go! |

OK, so it's telling me I have to pay to register mIRC, but I've never heard of this happening before.

Yeah, to register, but you don't need to register. I'm sure you can just skip it. |

Says I only get a 30-day evaluation if I don't register, though. Is this new, or am I missing something? |

You have the 30 days till register. Except you don't need to. You can just wait a few seconds and it lets you continue anyway. |

1) I am having problems with IRC. I can't seem to connect to Darkmyst, although other servers are working fine. 2) Don't tell me we're rolling dice for stats. Please don't tell me we're doing that. If we're doing that then I'm going to have to roll the dice bajillions of times till I find something I'm satisfied with. Can't we use the Point-Buy system? |
