I actually prefer it to what's going on now myself. At first, Jeph wasn't so great at drawing. Then he got a lot better, particularly at making expressive faces. In the past year or so I feel like he's regressed badly in that matter. I mean, look at Angus in panel 5 today. What is that? |

Disappointment? I do think it has less "charm" than it used to, but I'm not artistically inclined enough to identify why. Maybe sameface on a lot of characters, and eyes too wide...? I don't know. |

Yeah, Faye's dumb. "Wow, I'm not even willing to try a long distance relationship for even a second." Well, that's a good litmus test for Angus that it wasn't going to work out. Let's see, worst case scenario for how the writing unfolds from here: Marten or Dora talks sense into Faye, she sulks until the last minute, runs after Angus as he's about to get on the plane and says she still wants to be with him, he says no because he's done with that, and gets on the plane while Faye looks dramatically forlorn. I hope I'm wrong. |

You know as boring as you guys call him, Marten's a decent guy. I'd be okay with being friends with him. He can be dumb sometimes, yeah, and he makes stupid decisions, but he's also totally willing to not go hang out with a cute girl who is major interested in him to ensure that a friend of his is okay. I mean, it's probably a stupid decision from a lot of points, going purely from Marten's perspective, but it's something I consider positive. |

Well, from a personal standpoint he's risking his relationship with Claire by ditching the date, he's also risking a lot of potential issues with Faye, 'cause she's in a bad spot. I'm not saying it's a -wrong- decision, just that if he was looking out for #1 above all, the logic here says that dealing with Faye at the moment is... well, just potentially hazardous. Claire hasn't been shown to be jealous or unreasonable yet, which is nice, but Faye's relatively abusive on a good day and has a host of issues regardless of just getting fired and being consistently drunk. There's also puke on the couch already, which means she hasn't stopped drinking. I dunno. I'd just be worried that she'd get violent or try to make me do something I regret, were I in Marten's shoes. I'd still totally help my friend, and props to him for not even taking a moment to consider it. |
