Nobody in this webcomic ever deals with any real-world consequences. That's what bothers me the most about it. And actually, I'm calling 2014 as being the webcomic's make-or-break year. Jeph is going to get divorced, and without a source of emotional support, he's going to crumble and turn into Marten again. This means one of two things is going to happen: 1) He's going to be a useless piece of shit and fold. The webcomic will spiral into an endless parade of self-referential humor and lose its influence. 2) He's going to develop Marten as a character and make it so that Marten is no longer a useless piece of shit. This will be a form of self-motivation for Jeph, and the comic will suddenly become amazing again as he works out his problems through his art. Here's hoping. =/ As to the current arc, I don't think anything real is going to come of it, and it's just going to be some kawaii stuff between Marigold and Dale. Yawn.

I know he actually has this dynamic fleshed out, but as the webcomic has little to no exposition, we only glean it from little scenes here and there.
