Agreed. I think having the second adventure in Kanto was MUCH better then just tacking the Battle Frontier on. Sure, you have variety there, but...yeah. It gets old fast. |

For posting that, I give you a Mawile in a dress. ^_^ And, yes. Indeed, the Gold/Silver region and set does have a very endearing quality that none of the previous or subsequent games quite duplicated, I think. In various ways it was darker and more sophisticated, such as how Cinnibar Island gets mostly wiped out by a volcanic eruption, the way Red apparently exiles himself from society to retreat in the darkness of Mt. Silver, and the other things Caz mentioned. Even the music is special. It'd be awesome to see how exactly all that can be presented with a modern handheld. =D |

Also, Silver is the best rival ever. Gary/Blue comes a close second, but all the others suck. |

Silver MADE that game, I swear. He's the only rival who actually influences plot and has serious development. And since I am both 1- a fanfiction nut who will plot about anything 2- Always imagined Gold as a girl because this was the last generation before you could choose a Female trainer >< Silver/Gold is soooo cute. Fighting in Golden Rod's basement, running into him every Thursday(?) at the Dragon temple-place-thing, his epiphany about being nice to his pokemon? =^_________^= The integration of Red/Ash and Blue/Gary also made G/S really endearing, it felt like a proper sequel that was connected to R/B/Y. And I looooooooved the Mom's bank and the ability (which some people complained about, I think) to pass out phone-numbers to other trainers. *hasn't gotten nearly far enough in Pearl yet to see if this feature returns* I also loved the pokeball-nuts too >> |

In terms of being able to rematch trainers, D/P/Pt uses the Vs. Seeker system that was introduced in FR/LG, where you walk around 50 steps, use the key item, and any of the trainers on screen light up with exclamation marks and you can battle them again. With Vs. Seeker you can do this quickly and repeatedly while on the bike, and in Platinum I used this a LOT to level-grind both my main guys and the Pokemon I was just leveling up for evolving. That was REALLY practical in my playthrough. Gold and Silver remakes having the phone system of the old versions return might actually make level-grinding a lot harder if you don't get the VS Seeker also, since in the old game you get a call once every hour from someone who MIGHT offer to rematch you. That's probably what people complained about. |

GSDS is very practical. I mean if you really want to "Catch 'em All" you have to own 2 GBAs, a link cable, Ruby/Saphire/Emerald/Gale of Darkness and a GBA/GCN link cable just to get the Johto starters alone. Then their is the Legendaries. Ho-oh, Lugia, and the Beasts are available in Gen.III but are a major pain in the ass to get. Then there is Celebi. Never realeased in America. If this new announcement is not GSDS and say we all bomb Gamefreak headquearters. Who's with me! |

QFT. Gold and Silver was amazing. Johto's fun to explore, a lot of the pokemon (unlike later generations) were really creative, whereas a fair few today are quite unnecessary and I just friggin' loved the phone. I don't care if VS Seeker is more convenient, it was fun to make friends with trainers. Plus, 16 badges = Epic. Plus ever since my ex-friend stole Gold AND my GBC from me, a remake would be nice... |

>_> I of course disagree; part of the statement I try to make with my obnoxious Pokemon creature fanboyism is that some years back, I looked at the 3rd gen Pokemon more in-depth through both trading card game art and in-game Pokedex entry information, and I found that more recent Pokemon in general, in my opinion, are pretty much just as creative and substantial as the previous ones, and deserve more credit than a lot of people give them. :/ It's just that the later ones aren't promoted quite as well as back when the earlier ones were the stars of Pokemon when it was a ubiquitous fad. Hell, I USED to think the 3rd gen ones were bland and hard to like, once upon a time when Ruby came out... That was caused mainly by both the GBA sprites and Sugimori art of them at the time making them look like they don't have much "Poke-character". Anyway, I say it's entirely possible to bring back a phone conversation system in some form while retaining VS Seeker, and hopefully that'll happen. But what would REALLY make returning PokeGear awesome is the radio station system, and maybe even add a CD player system to that; it'd be great to play whatever different music you want while traveling around routes. =D |

THIS. THIS. THIS. THISTHIS. I Loooooved the PokeFlute channel, but what bugged me was that as soon as you changed a route (excluding the building ones), you had to reset it D: That was annoying when zooming around Kanto, but I DID understand it for entering/exiting buildings/towns. Doo, doo-dee-doo~ <3 EDIT: Speaking of races, after clearing Kanto did anyone else ever race around on your bike from Lavender City, south/north in that loop all the way back? I loved doing that, and the rule was that if I ran into anyone I had to fly back and restart =o It was a perfect loop and there was nowhere you had to actually get off the bike XD |

I did that racing thing all the time when I was trying to hatch eggs. Biking up and down Goldenrod City over and over again gets old, even if it is the longest straight path in the game. Thank God for Pokemon Stadium 2's x4 speed >_> |

Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver? For DS? Excuse me while I go faint from happiness. According to sources, they're fine tuning the radio and phone gears to be a little more helpful this time...which will be nice to see. But Goldenrod City and Tin Tower in DS quality? Awesome~ No doubt wifi will be included, which will be even better. |
