The point of Platinum, Reid, was to thoroughly enhance the competitive metagame by giving quite a few new moves to all of the Pokemon, as well as give new formes to several D/P legendaries that ended up quite major additions to competitive play (same thing that happened with Deoxys in the later releases in the third gen), and fortunately Platinum was quite a bit more playable than d/P due to the slowness of the battles being toned down. But anyway, I agree with Jackal; my thoughts about the possibility of some sort of ClearCrystal or MindCrystal version on DS were trounced when it became apparent that Eusine was in HG/SS (not to mention the legendary beast theme and the difference with Suicune, as well as the fact that one of the things Crystal was originally known for - the Battle Tower - is part of the much larger Battle Frontier also in HG/SS. They even put in Crystal's Extremespeed Dratini in HG/SS). Thus, what I speculate to be next is a Wii Pokemon RPG similar to the two GameCube RPGs set in the Orre region, Colosseum and Gale of Darkness - it might even be a third game set in that very region, or it might be something entirely original, and possibly even closer to the concept of a real Pokemon RPG on a console. :/ |

I have to say, Erik, that I hope you're right with your prediction for the next Pokemon game. I don't know what everyone else thought about the two Gamecube spinoffs, but I had Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness and I enjoyed the hell out of it. The focus on a plot, basic though it was, combined with a lack of the usual eight gym system and the interesting addition of Shadow Pokemon made for a great deviation from the norm that the series could really use (and part of why I love Mystery Dungeon so damn much). |

I hope Erik is right. Battle Revolution was just aweful in my opinion. The Wii deserves something better. On a happy note though, it turns out that after you beat Red in Mt. Silver, Prof. Oak gives you a Kanto starter of your choice. After that Steven Stone will be on the bottom floor of Silph Co. and give you one of the Hoenn starters. These games are just getting better and better. |

They should just make a game that goes from Kanto>Johto>Hoenn>Sinnoh But then, it might be kind of hard, since to do that they would have to make you get at least 4 badges every 30 minutes, not to mention the levels of Pokemon. Unless they force you to leave your previous pokemon everytime you go to a new region until the end >__> |

*looks at avatar* ...Why do the trainers Gold and Silver look like they're acting as though they've been left alone together in the daycare?

http://pokebeach.com/2009/09/new-pokemon-w...me-in-the-works Hmm. They just announced that Game Freak's now working on a new Pokemon game on Wii. Will this match up with my prediction just a few posts ago? ;) |

Yeah, he looked pretty much the same before. I was just posting the picture because it points out the visual similarities between Silver and Roark from Diamon/Pearl. |

Brain = Broken. Thanks Crash. Also, hooray at news for a new Pokemon game. I'm hoping it's better than Battle Revolution though, and stand by what I said about Gale of Darkness and how I would like another game in that style. So my girlfriend keeps going on about SoulSilver, since she's been playing it quite a bit. It's adorable to see her lament about how she was trying to catch the only wild Marill she'd ever seen due to lack of swarms and accidentally crit it. She's just beaten Morty (fourth gym) and has pretty much said that the game is everything any long-time Pokemon fan has been hoping and dreaming for in forever. I can't wait until my R4 arrives this week so I can try it myself... |
