Officially, Pokémon was banned at both of my elementary schools, but no one really followed that rule. I collected the cards through the Fossil Expansion, and I actually had the entire Jungle Set for a while, and was missing just a few Fossil cards I think. I had a pretty good collection, acquired through excellent trading! But I gave it away to a friend of mine some years ago. I had a cool Psychic/Grass deck that I called "Psycho Seedlings." Alakazam and Venusaur were my two biggest powerhouses, I think - I pulled, like, four Venusaurs from packs, which disappointed me, but I wound up trading two of them to a friend for his Charizard, and one to another friend for his Blastoise, so that I had all of those. Then I pulled another Venusaur, and had two in the deck. |

Yup, the cards got banned at my school. I went to an all-girls school, but even then, fights would break out over them.. LOL. I had a full set and MANY extras of the first generation. I remember I could NEVER get a Tauros and had to trade two Charizards for one, because it was the last one I needed. And I had a few other kinds of cards (I can't think of what they were called), so I had four binders of cards. ^_^ my mom has them stored somewhere, I haven't seen them in years, but she says she'll send them to me for christmas, loooolzz. I would always play through with the fire starters, beat the game, and play again with the water ones. Never the grass though. |

At least in Generation I, the Grass starter is the easiest, I think, 'cause you have type-advantage against the first two gym leaders, and resistance to the third, although I suppose Bulbasaur ought not to have a Grass-move that does damage necessarily by the time you fight Brock, unless you're like my roommate and just overlevel. I couldn't stand to do that. I always go the illogical way and train a team of five or six Pokémon to an equivalent, albeit lower, level, and play through the game with a sweet team, as opposed to a level 60 Starter by the time I'm on the fourth gym. |

Half of my friends and both of my sisters do that; I could never understand it. And the only Pokemon games I've owned are Sapphire and Diamond. Never beat both of them. >_>; And I always started with the Fire Starter. As for nostalgia, this reminded me of the Pokemon animé back when it was AWESOME. Which was about the first 50 episodes. Man, I loved it to shreds back then. ;_; I saw Ash catching a rock easily, and tried to do it myself, before failing massively. I was I think 5 back then; I didn't realize you had to concentrate until you got the hang of it. >_> |

What I did was have all my pokemon at equal levels. If they were all level 36 and one went to 37, I wouldn't use that pokemon till everyone else was. The only time I bent that rule was in Gym Matches, sometimes my pokemon got taken down or I just don't stand a chance in terms of type match ups. So, I had water pokemon always as my starter, except in Gold/Silver. There I picked Cyndaquil. Because he rocked. |

Ah... old times, the TCG got banned from my school here too (Not like I have ever been on the same school for more than a year, but let's not get there). I still own like 200 cards, they are in a box along with my YGO huge collection (which I don't play anymore because no one else does) Also, I always choose the fire starter, all my life, meaning that I have never tried to play a pokemon game with a different starter (Of course I have used them, but traded). |

In the two generations I have, I used the ones that most resembled ferocious dinosaurs, because I like ferocious dinosaurs, and assumed they'd fight well for me. So, Charmander and Totodile. |

My school had everything banned. If it was fun, the school had it banned within the month. TCG's? Everyone played them. You couldn't walk one meter without seeing two people play them. One month later? IF a teacher strolled by, your cards were confiscated. I brought my GBA to school once. I was the only one, but a month later they were banned. My school stole fun. And I always had an open mind, but I tend to lean towards the fire starter. Blue, Red, FR, LG- Mostly chose Charizard. Gold, Silver, Crystal- Mostly Cyndaquil. Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald- Basically even between all three. Diamond, Pearl, Platinum- Turtwig, but Chimchar was my first and he has a special place in my heart. |

In my Blue Version I chose Squirtle because... well... it was on the box. It was a tie between Cyndaquil and Totodile for Silver, and I always used Mudkipz for Sapphire. Makes it pretty obvious on who I chose for Diamond, doesn't it? I seem to like water types for some reason. |

Giraffes are adorable.

I usually chose grass types first time and choose other starters on replays. Pearl is the first time I chose a water type in the first playthrough (and will probably never restart a new file either). |

Hoi, my school banned pretty much every fad to burn through our school. Tazos, Crazy Bones, Pokemon cards, Digigoms, Tamagotchis... You name it, we've had it banned. We were normally fine for the first few months, until people got waaaaay too into it, and started stealing other people's things. People complain, and then whatever it was would get banned. Of course, there was always that sweet 2-3 week period where people would bring them into school anyway, hide them from teachers, and then play/trade/whatever when they were sure no teachers were about. Ah, the memories... I used to be all about Grass-starters, until my Treecko could barely defeat that level 2 Poochyena you have to fight, and got pretty much slaughtered by my rival's Torchik. Started again with Torchik, and didn't look back >_> For most games, I appreciate the coolness of both the fire and grass starters (except for Ruby...), but I've nver really had a connection with those water-starters. |

I got put off of Piplup myself when I played through with all of the starters. Sure, Empoleon's great, but how effing weak your Prinplup is? Not worth it. I also stopped using Squirtle when some friends of mine said you had to use Blastoise to beat the Elite Four in Blue. I just thought "Really? Let me prove you wrong..." |

I always used to like water types, I used Totodile and Mudkipz but Squirtle kinda killed it for me, and now i'm in to fire type starters (Charmander and Chmchar.) Also I never ever owned one of the original first gen. games. (Just the Remakes) Pretty much all TCGs are banned at my elementary school, and people still bring their gameboys and cartridges on the buses, I know this because my brother is still there. |

Dude!! I've not heard those words together in quite some time (Armored + Mewtwo). But yes, I totally remember that. I can't remember any more details than what you just said, unlocking in my brain, but I have a cool Gen. I story to tell. Well, I have the American Release. 1998 released, I think? Released with an updated version of Red and Green in Japan, I think, with the improved graphics, as the graphics were different between the original 1995 Red/Green and the 1998 Red/Blue, despite everything else being the same, to my knowledge. I used to abuse MISSINGNO. like everyone else. I'd do the infinite Rare Candies, infinite Calcium and other nutrients, infinite Master Balls, infinite... whatever! Needless to say, my game got pretty messed up, and in a way everyone would expect: the Hall of Fame. However, my experience was a little more fun. One day, plowing through my Hall of Fame, I saw three things I thought were awesome: 1) A Tauros replaced a bunch of my Pokémon, which I liked, as I like Tauros. Now to the meat, though: 2.) I saw a Mew in there! That delighted me, as I'd not seen one previously, but I had an idea what it was as soon as I'd seen it. And now for the real meat: 3.) many of the Pokémon who showed up in my Hall of Fame were in their original 1995 Red/Green Version graphics. That means they looked really dumb and bad compared to the updated graphics, but at any rate, I didn't recognize the pictures, and I looked it up later to find that what I'd found was indeed the original graphics set. I find it interesting that they kept it on the game, or were too lazy to delete it from the code, or whatever the deal was. |
