Duh, the economy's in a slide. A DS and one game runs you what, $180 dollars? And then maybe $120 a year for new games, repeat the initial purchase every 5 or so years, going by current generations. Vs. a medium level computer + one game runs you easily $800.000, plus about that per year to keep up/buy a new one when it gets outmodeled. And of course the Wii60 combo works on a similar principle. The gist of it is if you have a Wii60 and a DS or PS2 you can play all those games at top notch graphics, AND their huge backlog of games from previous gens and STILL pay less than a PC gamer, who with the advent of Vista is now hard pressed to get anything from the XP era to work properly. Society and the console model come together at last! I expect convergence will, within 2 console generations render all this moot as you have one home entertainment media machine, or alternatively consoles become interchangeably playable, while something similar replaces cellphones and DS. As it stands, gaming thrives for most people on fixed hardware, because it's cheaper. You could do a graph of interest of "how much I"m willing to pay out for hardware" vs "Games I buy" and find the peaks. I'll wager the DS is right smack in the peak of that zone, which explains its superlative success and absolute conquest of the PSP (remember when everyone said the PSP would kill nintendo for good? XD) Of course this theory doesn't explain why consoles do what they do - by it last gen should have been a PSGC domination with an X shutout, which obviously didn't happen. |

Another note. I've had a lot of problems with my computer. I have Command and Conquer The First Decade, which has most (If not all) the C&C games, and I have C&C3:Tiberium. I have not beat a single one of these. Why? I mean, it's a waste of money to have games you haven't beat. Frankly, I get moderately far, my computer craps out, I lose my files, I'm no longer interested in playing levels I've already beaten. Thus, they do net get beat. Quid quo pro, buying PC games COULD be considered a waste of money to some people. I still intend to beat mine once I can get saves offline, though. |

C&C3 is crap anyway. Pretty much a ripoff of Starcraft, Srin are way overpowered(whole crapload of tripods+ships+shields=U WIN LOLOLOL), way too glitchy. And yes, you DO need to spend a lot on hardware for a gaming computer, but then it's like you're buying your own console anyway. Of course, the end price depends on what you buy, which allows for customization, and a pretty good experience at your price(kinda). Plus the mods for games are effing sweet. >________________> |

Eh, I though only the Red Alert series was good anyway. >__> Also, practically no mods. Fail. Bascially, almost anything by EA these days is meh. |

I agree. EA sucks bad. Of course, they're the ones who madde EVERY CRAPPY MOVIE!GAME. EVAR. I don't know if it's true, but it's not far off. Anyway, we've derailed this topic far enough. Onward, for the love of intelligent discussion. |

I believe it is mandatory to put LucasArts on that list! Why? you may not agree, although I like all the Star Wars games. Well, most of them. But KotOR is reason enough. UbiSoft has gone soft. Really though, they aren't good. Sierra made decent civilization games. At least Caesar III. And Pharaoh. Another reason PC gaming is dying is lack of good developers! Also because sitting and playing with a keyboard and a mouse is rather limited. You have to be stting right there at your desk. For a console, you could lay on your bed (or couch) and play. |

Oh yeah, LucasArts is kinda good, too. I haven't really played any Civ games. Yeah, you could lay down on the floor and play on a console, too. A lotta reasons why PC gaming is going sux0rz. |

Um... No. The PS2 is the highest selling console ever. Whatever "theory" you are basing your sales off of, I'll tell you now, consoles have been outselling PC since the birth of them. That's how the death of the arcades have occurred. In other words, sales would tell you, this is very true--irrefutably true. PC gaming is dying because they're lack of a variety of games and PC gaming is selling itself out. PC games are now pretty much limited to FPS's MMO's of various kinds, RPG's and maybe a Racer and Action/Adventure game here and there. What does a console have? All of that plus more. Not to mention some of the PC games that have been coming out on it are coming to consoles also letting people not waste their time to get upgrades for their PC. With the advent of online gaming on the consoles also, it's killing the PC. It's not as good as it yet but it won't be long before consoles will have online as great as PC. |

I had forgotten they'd done Assassin's Cred. D'oh! Ubisoft has had a stinker or two, but they're all right. I like Chessmaster. |
