Thanks, I tired to use as much game mechanics and references as possible. Have you noticed my totally obvious reference to gender ratios of starters yet? |

Yeah, I did see that. Here's some challenges: Porygon. Any Ghost type. Explain where Machoke gets that belt without human interaction. |

Porygon was specifically told to be man made so it can't be explained much. Ghosts and Machoke can be seen as a challenge. I barely read or watched much information on turtles and tortoises so Squirtle may be delayed for a bit. I have ideas for Pikachu and the GS starters though. |

PIKACHU!!! Considered a very cute creature in the eyes of many. Many would be surprised that a very popular Pokemon was regarded as a pest almost less than a century ago. Pikachus back then were the cause of many destroyed crops and were a pain to deal with for many farmers because of their powerful electric attacks. They would multiply very fast and technology was not enough back then to deal with them. Few Pokemon were domesticated that can deal with them without getting hurt themselves. Not only farmland was affected by them but city life too. If they felt threatened they would attack both people and tamed Pokemon back then such as Growlithes (pokeballs were not invented then). Superstitions revolved around the electric mice back then and they were considered a bad omen if dreamed about. This all changed decades later when people finally started to understand the mouse Pokemon. Life is very hard for a Pikachu in the wild. They are down on the food chain and are food to many Pokemon species. Humans also found them a delicacy. A Pikachu can give birth to almost 10 Pichus at a time. Life is already a gloomy time for the Pichu as almost every predator want to get an easy meal. Pichus on their own barely can defend themselves and are almost going to always be a meal for a bigger Pokemon. They are completely reliant on their parents for protection. The parents needs to teach their babies how to properly use their electric attacks. Many fictional stories about Pichus are based on truth, they can hurt themselves because of their lack of experience. Pichus will almost never leave the nest until they become Pikachus. Pikachus, when in a positive light, are considered to be the sign of parental love and it may be due to how Pichus become Pikachus. When a Pichu feels safe, secure and loved by its family it will become a Pikachu. Pichus that lack this sense of security will never evolve. A trainer who raises a tamed Pichu needs to replace the love that a parent gives to its young in order to have a Pikachu. It is still a very scary world for an adult Pikachu. Though they know how to defend themselves, their electric attacks are not enough for many of their well known predators. Their physical attacks also do not dish out much pain for their natural hunters. They are considered a snack for the dangerous Onix and full grown Nidokings and Queens and their only option is running from them. Grass types like Ivysaur and Grovyle can also easily dispatch them because electric attack barely hurt them. Persians also have a special ability to protect themselves from being paralyzed by a Pikachu. It is no wonder these particular species started to be domesticated by farmers and city folk to keep the Pikachu population down in human populated areas. Pikachus are herbivores. They also hibernate in the winter. They mainly live in fields and forests hidden in many shrubbery. There is a 50/50 gender ratio in the population. The tails in females are attractive to males. The more "heartlike", the more likely the male would like to mate with a particular female. While a female is nursing will not forage for food, it is up to the mate to help her and her babies not starve to death. If the male is killed, the female will sometimes cannibalize her young and then look for a new mate. It either her own babies that must go or both her and the babies. Raichus in the wild: Due to the mining of evolution stones for domestic use, including thunderstones, there are much less wild Raichus in the wild. In the wild, a Pikachu would jump at the opportunity to evolve. It's expected life span is doubled because the attacks, both physical and electrical, are much more powerful, helping it survive better from predators. Their tails become much more whip like with a blade like tip which can inflict tons of pain on their enemies. Also Raichus run much faster then a Pikachu so they more likely can outrun their predators. They are also much more likely to get mates as they can live longer to raise more offspring. There is still no restriction on the mining of these stones but many are fighting to put one. |

Many destroyed crops because of Pikachu is interesting because Pikachu canonically zap berries before eating them. And the Pichu-needing-love-to-evolve thing is well integrated too. And I liked the details about female's tails. But I found the cannibalizing part rather weird. In other words, as always always, great work.

I wrote about cannibalizing because hamsters, in real life, can eat their own young under stress. I think other rodents do this as well so I wrote that for Pikachu. |

I really need to read more about turtles so I can write up a Squirtle post. I don't mind if someone else does it as turtles don't really interest me in real life. |

Dogs'll do that too. If there's a weak or dead pup, the mother'll eat it. It's an instinct, so that a predator won't find the dead one, and possibly smell it's way to the other puppies. |

Yeah, they get cars modeled off them, and yet, no recognition. (At least, one of the campsites I´ve stayed at in France two weeks ago had a merry go round with a Pikachu car on it...) |

I actually got really inspired by an Advance Wars topic ages ago on AW bunker before it asploded off the internet. A user was writing histories for the countries and bios for every CO. Alas, I can't find them anymore. Next one is gonna be about why training and using them to fight is legal and the laws about Pokemon fights. So I'm gonna step out of "Nature Show Mode" for now and get to a different kind of mockumentary.. |
