It's just about "P-Day" now, which is what I call the March 22 release of Platinum, and arguably the buildup to this event is the sort of thing that makes the complete lack of Golden Sun 3 tolerable in my humble opinion. ^_^ Now, during the wait for Pt, I had researched Serebii.net and compiled my own list of all the Platinum changes and additions from D/P, and I WOULD have posted it here for everyone to see... But then Serebii had to do the exact same thing itself and render my project obsolete >____< Ah well, Serebii has a good list and overview of all the important stuff to know about the game, so I'll just direct everyone there in the meantime: http://www.serebii.net/platinum/changes.shtml |

Nintendo of America is so lame. =/ Pluto-> Charon was super lame, but apparently they could get even lamer. Cochran, Nejiki and Kate became Darach, Thorton and Argenta! D= Who would name their kids those awful names? Even worse... Stage Madonna Kate became Hall Matron Argenta for crying out loud! At one of my schools, the nurse was called Matron! Heck, even Wikipedia agrees... "Matron is the job title of a very senior nurse in several countries, including the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, although the title Clinical Nurse Manager is now often used instead." Since when was Stage Madonna Kate a freaking nurse?! Nintendo of America must be on drugs... |

A matron isn't necessarily a nurse. It can also be a married woman; if a bride's Maid of Honor is married, she's technically a Matron of Honor, IIRC. So all it means is that Kate/Argenta is either (a) old or (B) married. |

Well, I honestly have to say none of those names bothered me at all when I first read about those... :/ Charon even sounds cool, neverminding the Golden Sun coincidence or the fact it doesn't conform with the planetary names of the other galactic admins. The Griseous Orb, Giratina's item, is another story: Like everyone else I was all WTF when I first heard the Platinum Orb was going to be given a weird-sounding name like that. Right away I did some investigating, and soon I realized; I don't think they could have possibly come up with a better name for that item! =D I mean, it conforms to the naming conventions set with the other items for the Dragon Trio, the Adamant Orb and Lustrous Orb; you don't see those being called the Diamond Orb and Pearl Orb like they are in the Japanese version, after all. And Griseous, as Pokebeach explained, "is an adjective that means something has been blotted with gray." So, the Diamond Orb, Pearl Orb, and Platinum Orb are named the Adamant Orb, Lustrous Orb, and Griseous Orb for the stateside release. That's why nowadays I want to shove a kitchen appliance up the ass of anyone who complains that that particular name "sucks" or "makes no sense". ;) |

I'm looking forward to it tons, but with scheduling of moving back to school tomorrow, I won't be getting it immediately. I'm in the process of breeding and EV Training the team I plan to use through Platinum. I've recently gotten competitive and have two teams (just trained a second one for a school tournament this week), and I've decided I'm going to EV train a new team and send them over at around level 10, this way I get to have a third competitive team altogether, giving myself nearly an entire box of EV trained pokemon to choose from on the fly! EDIT: I got it and it's pretty fun. I always love starting a new Poke-Adventure. BTW The Rivals animation is the most adorable thing in any game ever. More adorable then the life of a bidoof. |

I pre ordered Platinum and picked it up a day after the release, and have been pretty addicted to it since. I've cleared the Torn World, and after passing the incessantly long sequence of puzzles without any online or guide assistance, it was pretty graphically amazing. I've been posting unpattered updates of my adventure in the Recent Events page with my account on Serebii. I really haven't given much detailed feedback on my adventure thus far, besides how lame Victory Road was. :/ |

Technically, neither does Pluto. Though, if you *do* want to include the dwarf planets, then Charon (Pluto's, uh, co-satellite) works just as well as Pluto. For that matter, who'd name their kid "Diamond" or "Pearl" or "Gold"? |

Battle Frontier is more difficult than I expected. kthnxbye! No really though, it's some unexpected challenge that really mixes things up for me. If I had the time, I'd really be putting a lot more into it, I have 3 teams EV Trained and built, but I need to level 2 of them up. Once we hit 80, I figure I should be ok to take on the Elite Four round 2. >.> |

Pretty difficult and chance-based, frankly. But the facilities are still better than some of the ones from Emerald, like the one where you had to watch automated battles from the sidelines. >.< Battle Arcade (Roulette) is probably the most fun.
Something tells me Pearl shouldn't be part of that list. |
