Well well! So a couple of days back the site for D/P's enhanced counterpart Pokemon Platinum's up. It's still in teaser mode, but the different Giratina form is looking even cooler than before. http://www.pokemon.co.jp/special/platinum/02.html |

Bumping a 4-month-old topic. ^_^ Okay, so since then Platinum's been released in Japan, and it's turning out to be taking Japan and the Pokemon scene by absolute STORM. Here's a Pokebeach news article: http://pokebeach.com/news/0908/pokemon-pla...game-in-history Platinum sold over a million copies in less than 3 days in Japan alone, and may end up selling enough to match and/or surpass the 5 million copies D/P sold globally combined, once Platinum's released internationally. To be frank, right now the overall Pokemon franchise is much stronger now than it was back when the 3rd generation was newish... This game's gotta be the first Pokemon enhanced version I'm genuinely excited about buying; I didn't even buy Crystal or Emerald in the previous two generations. >_> In here there's an immense amount of enhancements and refinements that Platinum brings to the 4th gen field, both to the main solo game and especially to the metagame, which everyone says is gonna have to be re-analyzed from scratch at this rate because of how all the new moves each Pokemon gets (through the Emerald-style move tutors that return) thoroughly shakes it up. =D Serebii's pretty much compiled a huge amount of info on Platinum here, in all the sections to the right side of the page... |

I can't decide whether or not to get this game. If I do I may have to get a second DS so I can transfer all my EV trained Pokemanz to it. (Well it gives me an excuse to finally buy a lite) |

Oh, I hadn't even thought about the fact that I'd have to transfer all my Diamond stuff somehow! Hopefully my brother decides to buy his own DS in the near future. |

Yah for having three DSes! After I got Emerald, I didn't really want to get the third one, but Platinum adds a boatload of awesome things. Like coats! |

Ummm... have you looked at serebii? There's not just a few differences, there are a CRAPLOAD of differences. The whole freaking metagame is gonna have to be redone because of all these changes. And I'll express my only gripe once again: they should have put the legendary dogs in this game, not the birds. |

*face asplodes over the sight of Hinny posting* Now, the main thing I didn't like about D/P is that with only 151 in the Sinnoh Pokedex originally, you ended up encountering and fighting the same Pokemon over and over again in the wild and trainer battles. I think adding 59 more to Platinum's version of the Sinnoh Dex is a huge plus because it's bound to give a lot more variety in these battles... Also, since these additions are mostly comprised of all the Poke families that got new evolutions (like Gligar/Gliscor, Magby/Magmar/Magmortar, Togepi/Togetic/Togekiss), you'll be getting more choices for fire-types instead of just Chimchar/Monferno/Infernape and Ponyta/Rapidash.(And for Elekid and Magby's lines I doubt you'd require having a GBA game in the bottom slot to make them appear.) =D |

The whole series is really in need of more Fire types. More Fire and less Water. Of course, it kind of makes sense that there are so many water types, since there's a huge variety of real life sea creatures out there. |

That was my main gripe when playing through Pearl. I was waiting... and waiting... and waiting for a good fire type to appear, because I really didn't like Chimchar and wanted something that wasn't a Ponyta. Alas, I didn't get it, and since I don't have copies of the third gen there wasn't any way I could get them. Fixing that up would be a huge blessing. And in my current playthrough I'm rolling with a Ponyta anyway because I'm that desperate. But since I'm a consumer whore, I plan to buy Platinum anyway. Yay for having three DSes! |

Well, I couldn't. I just have two siblings. *grins sheepishly* They had DS Originals since a couple of months after their launch, and until... yesterday, actually, I was sharing with them and buying most of the games. However, I figured it was time to stop leeching of their DSes, especially on long trips and the like where there are arguments over them. Thus, I got myself a DS Lite yesterday. So yeah. Three. |

I am getting this game even if it will end my life - and I don't care if the only reason I'm getting it is because of the larger poke-dex, I'm getting it. |

I would get a DS just for this, I really would. Oh, and a week ago a friend on another forum downloaded the ROM and took screenshots: [/color] |

For a second, I read "Infernape" as "Infernrape" >_> Either way, I have to get a DS, just to get D/P and this. |

I did. On emulation a couple years back. ![]() And I'll be honest (like I usually am ;) ), I used to emulate every version and generation of Pokemon including Emerald up until I bought D/P, but I liked this generation's revisal of everything enough that nowadays I don't even touch older generations at all anymore. :/ |
