Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

Enabling Terrible Ideas since 2012

In this game I play, Ikariam (which is totally awesome, by the way), I run a city, Vespuccia. The goal of the game is to, in essence, take over the world. I'm told it's a lot like a Civilization MMO, but as I've never played Civilization, I wouldn't know.

Anyway, I was recently attacked by another city, Don't Panic. They were on about the same tier as I was, though I'm pretty sure they had the better military. Then again, my entire military consisted of a Phalanx unit and a wall at the time. Naturally, he won. His reward? 5 coins. That isn't much.

So, in an effort to make his day a bit more surreal, I sent this letter to him.

Quote:

Dear top_gun of Don't Panic, Nepaios,
We hope your men enjoyed your visit to scenic Vespuccia. Your men have received a complimentary tour of the city's landmarks, from our state-of-the-art trading port to our fine taverns, the trading center within, and eventually by their demand, our warehouse with its resources locked up in the most secure room we could find with half an hour's notice.  We are thankful they took a few trinkets home with them as well, though we would have preferred it if they had paid for them as well. (It was only 5 coins' worth of trinkets, so we're not too fussed.)

Vespuccia prides itself on being open to new trading fleets, and we would love to open diplomatic relationships with you. Vespuccia and the entire island of Elmitia is reowned throughout the region for its wine, and would love to share it with you at reasonable prices, rowdy behavior of previous tourists notwithstanding.

To a more productive future,
Hinoa F. Arash
Mayor of Vespuccia

[In short: No hard feelings about your raid.]

His reply was something along the lines of "I have another resource and I need yours. Wanna trade?"

Morals of the story:
1.) Diplomacy does not suck. Do not underestimate it.
2.) I think I win here.

That's awesome. You win, for sure.

I'm on that game now, by the way. I saw it on an ad on ExtraLife, but I didn't start until now.
