Yellow, Crystal and Emerald had their differences to the first two games of their respective generations. What would you like to see in a third game for this series? (I'm guessing opal. Giratina's name may come from the word girasol, which means something to do with opal, and it may likely be the third version mascot) I can't think up something right now (the idea for this topic was quite spontaneous) but I sure know I'd like them to make the Snowpoint Gym puzzle easier. That thing is a pain in the ASS. I'm quite sure when I get there in Diamond, I'll just use the walk through walls cheat. I hate it that much... even with a walkthrough. I imagine that the Dialga/Palkia conflict will be different... perhaps it will be Giratina itself Cyrus is attempting to control rather than those two? (I know about the post Elite Four dungeon, but that can easily be changed.) This would also mean a different statue by Eterna. |

Personally, I'd prefer it to be like Amethyst or something, but Opal isn't a bad idea. |

My brother keeps going on about a starter that's Grass/Electric. No idea where he got his info from, but it may be a possible Gen.5 starter... As for changes, I really wouldn't know. I'll get back to you once I finish Diamond >_> My Pearl kept freezing up at a certain point, so I'm hoping Diamond won't do the same. (Shotty Emulatora FTL >_>) |

Opal, Amethyst, and Topaz are all registered as possible names for upcoming Pokémon games. you can check if it's registered by typing into the url bar "www.pokemon____.com" where you insert the said version title in the blank I just wrote. Opal seems most likely, especially since Giratina now got a new form in the movie, with new height and weight and appearance that doesn't appear in Diamond or Pearl (and thus would feature in the third game); also, both Opal and Amethyst fit the colour scheme of Lady Berlitz in the Special Manga (the colour scheme of the character, and their eye colour, always refers to the version they're named after. Since we don't have Berlitz's first name yet, her name is going to be the third version. Amethyst could feature Cresselia; the only reason I see for doing this is that Crystal featured Suicune, which didn't seem to fit as a third game. Giratina is the more obvious third, as it has the same total base stats as Dialga and Palkia, and has the same move progression, and is a dimensional ruler (Dialga rules Time, Palkia Space, and Girantina Jigoku or the Spirit World). Cresselia's role as a version mascot, however, would mean more focus for Darkrai as well. However, since Darkrai is only available through Nintendo events, I hardly think that they'd give him a main quest role in the third game. Giratina, on the other hand, can feature a continued effort of Galactic after the Elite Four, once you've acquired the National Dex, as they try to gain the power to rule the Dead. Giratina's connection to Arceus isn't certain, though it seems to have rebelled against the other dimensional rulers. Thus, Giratina could be the tool to attack this dimension, and wage war on Arceus itself. This is all speculation mind you; but that seems like something an Opal Version could feature. Topaz version? Maybe Heatran? That's pushing it. Heatran never fit in with the rest of the Legendaries, anyways. If Opal version is correct, there'll probably be some involvement with Galactic and Heatran as well, though, as they would continue into the National Dex / Battle Zone part of the game. My theory is that there will be a remake of Gold and Silver for DS (often referred to as GSDS, though I've seen this also for Golden Sun 3...), and then Opal Version. Then 5th Gen setting about having an Amethyst and Topaz versions. Oh, and as for a Grass/Electric starter; that's either made up, hoax, or speculation. Which are actually all made up, so that doesn't exist. We have yet to see an Electric/Grass type, and definitely not for a starter. 5th Gen won't start moving until we've gotten adequately into 11th season. Maybe then we'll get a single Pokémon from 5th Gen, like we got Munchlax in 7th Season (mid Hoenn) and we got Kecleon in 4th Season (mid Johto). After that, we'll get more and more 5th Gen appearances in the movies, and then in the anime, and finally some 5th Gen material will be released actually pertaining specifically to the games. But since we're just starting 11th season in Japan, there's probably going to be at least until 13th season before 5th Gen, and I would put it past them to go on to a 15th Season (after returning to Johto). |

I've always been sceptical about this Grass/Electric starter that my brother won't shut up about. Put it down to the made up gossip of young boys... |

This is the first time I've ever HEARD of the word "girasol"! You sure know your jewelry, lady. The enhanced version counterpart for the DS: I dunno if I'd get that when it comes out. I had only got Yellow at the time of Gen 1, and I never bothered getting Crystal and Emerald, because they're mostly the same game as the initial game pair. That said, D/P was the most successful Pokemon game with me because I loved the newly changed-around move system, so I might get it if there's plenty of cool actually-new content in there. BTW, my viewpoint on the Pokemon franchise is that it is a full Nintendo staple just like Mario and Zelda, and any reason why the Pokemon franchise would "die" would have to be the same reason why Mario and Zelda would "die" as game franchises. Since I don't expect that to happen to any of those three anytime soon, I'm TOTALLY hopeful for another four generations and a grand total of over 1000 Pokemon. Srsly. (The 3rd and 4th Gen Pokemon look great to me only because I spent the time considering their design aspects and merits like with the 1st and 2nd, which came from looking at all the Pokemon card art posted on Pokebeach.)

Bulbapedia told me about "girasol" actually. The series is still young compared to oldies like Zelda or Mario. I'm sure they have a fair way to go yet. Each generation however isn't released until Nintendo puts out the next handheld. 1st gen was on Gameboy, 2nd on Colour, 3rd on GBA and 4th on DS, so I guess we'll have to wait until we hear what the 5th handheld is before we start seeing 5th gen Pokemon... but we may see one even earlier. |

Girasol is actually the name for Fire Opal, and I heard of it before it was put on Bulbapedia, but rather in a discussion thread elsewhere. It definitely seems the most plausible. I see the timeline of Pokémon following the Anime. Anime has always been the biggest advertisement channel for the games, introducing new Pokés early on. However, since we have so many legendaries to focus on, maybe this time the DP series will be more than 4 seasons, maybe even 6 or 7. This would mean a long run for DS and Wii, which I can definitely see. Oh, and I personally like b****y puzzles like Snowpoint. There needs be more challenge in games these days, they're getting too easy. Also, I can see the statue in Hakutai City (read: Eterna) being changed into two statues of Dialga and Palkia. Remember, Giratina is not in the Sinnoh Dex. Therefore, it needs not be referenced until after the Shiten'no (read: Elite Four). However, I would still see Giratina as playing a role in Akagi's plan for world recreation, it's just Galactic would survive longer into the game than it does in DP. |
