Why do I empathize with Koizumi so much this time around possibly because I have become him Kyon and Mikuru for least favourite characters, the former being a bit of a surprise. Yuki probably second favourite, then Haruhi in the middle.

I'm just surprised I like Koizumi so much, he was either least or second-least favourite last time. I just love his style of having overly long, pretentious and elaborate bullshit explanations about nothing in particular, over-analyzing everything, and having to feel like he has to "perform" a certain persona that everyone else expects of him, so he's unable to be honest. And yeah, I'm on book seven right now. I actually dislike this one quite a bit, since it's very Mikuru-focused. Basically "Mikuru being useless: the light novel."

I don't know whether it's the translation or the fact I read that terrible fic, but I'm catching a lot more details now. About halfway through the reread now, and then... book ten. hyperventilates things I missed before in book 9 - Wow Sasaki is kind of creepy as a "monster of reason," and how she seems very aware of how she's coming across to Haruhi and is manipulating that. Plus she's like "well, just because they're your enemies, they're not mine" and the whole "I am fully aware of their real identities and I'm going to go along with it because it's interesting" (This point in particular makes me aware just how horribly that fic/Kyon: Big Damn Hero obliterates her characterization... along with everyone else's). - Kuyou Suou or however her name's spelt is creepy as [radio edit], between the whole "black stain of ink" thing, her creepy obsession with Kyon "Your eyes ------- very beautiful -----"/requesting to be able to stand within a two metre radius of him, and other details that I can catch, mostly because of how that fic used them. Ie. Suou not being used to time passing so slowly, and the "heavenly canopy domain" (rather than "sky canopy domain") emphasizing that they came from outside the universe. - The fact that in the alpha section the kouhai-slider actually calls Kyon, preventing Sasaki from doing so, and that establishing the difference between the two timelines. I think I completely missed that before. >_____> but yeah, brb going back to read
