Gah, darn ambiguity. XD But anyway, I've read that unlike the other FEs, Radiant Dawn WOULD only appeal to series diehards who are willing to take a lot of punishment, because it's supposed to be "extremely hard" as a game, certainly much more difficult than the older games that made it stateside. I had been wondering why I get the Game Over screen so often... A game like that probably wouldn't be that enjoyable for you and non-diehards anyway. |

Extremely hard? D= I started having difficulties with Path of Radiance around Chapter 8. x_x And playing Easy Mode too. Though, I may have been overusing Ike, as he was into the very high levels aroun then, and kept using Titania as a "Lemming" tank. Mia is pretty disappointing for a Myrmidon too. Gah... and I lost Ilyana on Chapter Nine because I thought she could handle a boss with 5 HP left (he then attacked her twice and killed her) ... I think I must have screwed up somewhere. I would have used AR Codes, but I had trouble finding any, at least some that would work for the European version, I think. But I really did look. Didn't find any... So, I don't think I would find Radiant Dawn quite so enjoyable. |

Wikipedia pretty much says it all in detail, so you should read up on that, especially the Reception section. The article also says IGN calls it having "over 50 hours of gameplay", which I thought was kind of odd; I always thought FE games were 20 - 30 hours long. Some reviewers say that the story isn't so compelling, while others say the opposite, which means I'll have to play the game first to provide an opinion on that part. And, yeah, you're right - doesn't seem to be any EU-version AR codes anywhere! D= Does FE6 seem harder than FE7? Emulating that with the translation patch, it seems the missions are longer at the very least. |

Having now played the first part of Radiant Dawn (the first 9 missions are their own self-contained story, with the rest of them being the rest of the game I guess), I gotta say that I really like the game as a FE aficionado. Well, I have yet to play any FE on Hard Mode without cheating, but I always play each game on Normal mode legit, and I think that makes me aficionado enough. ^^; And if it weren't for that really good new mid-battle save system, this game would be hair-pullingly horrid in difficulty, but that save system turns each battle into a pleasantly strategic affair that makes me feel great each time I beat a mission without losing any character and leaving no chests on the field unopened. I wonder if in spite of the general toughness of the enemies in this FE, the save system actually makes it the easiest and least frustrating experience in general... |

So now I'm starting part 4 (the final part, I take it), having done about 25 missions (apparently there are 45!? Whoa!!!), and I gotta say this has been the best Fire Emblem experience I've had yet. In terms of both gameplay and storyline quality and setup, this game is looking like it has the same relation and significance to the GameCube game as Golden Sun: The Lost Age has to the original Golden Sun. Though this means playing through, finishing, and enjoying PoR thoroughly is a prerequisite to playing this, but because I did all that beforehand I have just been LOVING this game!!! ![]() In addition to all the enhancements I mentioned earlier, this is the game that tries to be different from the mold the previous FEs established. It's pretty much three separate event lines and armies being controlled by the player at different times in between missions, with their storylines intertwining later on, and I'd say there's gotta be over a dozen separate characters throughout that can be considered "central" to the story. The intricately interwoven and plotted storyline works absolutely great for me because I'm an aficionado for the previous game. And I think this has also been the least frustrating FE of all, thanks to that all-important mid-battle save system that offsets the tougher-than-normal statistics of all the opponents, even though I'm playing on Normal difficulty. I'd wager playing this game on Easy difficulty would actually make this the easiest of the Fire Emblems... |

Now I've beaten the game. And I really loved it all. =D The way the story reveals all sorts of mysteries and loose ends in the previous game appeals to PoR aficionados (sp?), because it's just like how Golden Sun: The Lost Age's story put new perspective onto the previous game's story. Frankly, I would recommend this to everyone who's played through PoR. I had beat the game on Normal difficulty, and now I'm looking at the differences in Easy difficulty. I tell ya, it's REALLY easy there. |

I heard it was so hard that it made Thracia 776 look easy. Hyperbolic idgits. I played on easy out of caution and am probably going to regret the normal mode's upping of the ante as it were. But I agree about the battle saving. You could do the FE7 style RNG abusing and get everyone constant 8-ups if you really wanted to (or constant 6-ups is probably more accurate, but still.) Did you get Stefan? I miss the old support system. The new one is more tactical but a lot of good character dialogue for the non lord and non "lord's friends" units came from those convos, which is gone. So for instance I know nothing about Laura's personality or Aran's. |

I have not the game, but I have played Path of Radiance and have spoiled myself silly for Radiant Dawn. I don't have a Wii and probably won't have one for quite some time, sadly. I want the game so badly, though. I want to test out the difficulty for myself. XD; I'm one of those freaks who enjoys playing hard mode. (Although I play easy mode a lot to breeze through the story.) Never played Thracia myself, but I'd imagine it still would be the most difficult, just because of the exhaustion feature and the other little things that made getting through the game difficult. (Capturing instead of killing enemies, escape maps, etc...) That, and American Normal mode is actually Japanese Hard mode in RD. |

Stefan seems to be the only character I missed, since he's the only character who'se portrait is yet unrevealed in my file. If anyone knows how to get him, please share. The game's hard mode, playable only after beating the game once, might frighten a lot of people off; in addition to the requisite tougher enemy forces and less EXP, it does away with the mid-battle save system to being back the old battle suspending system of the previous FEs. The very thought of that in this game should be unsettling. |

I think that's it's the same as in PoR, except apparently only Micaiah can get him to pop up this time. |

Yeah, but the question is WHERE? If I had to throw a random guess, it'd be somewhere at the desert ruins mission in part 1. He appeared in a desert in the previous game, and you had to step on one particular non-obvious out-of-the-way tile of the ground with a compatible unit... EDIT: Okay, found the answer: Part IV Chapter 3 (The desert map, Micaiah's army) is where you recruit him. Recruting him is almost as tricky as in the last game, requiring Micaiah to step on a specific square. Go to the upper right corner of the map, and go down 14 spaces and go left one space and that's where Stefan is! Also, would you listen to this (practically inconsequential spoilers): The previous game's villain Oliver is actually Recruitable in his return appearance as one mission's boss late in this game! Just have Rafiel talk to him. |

Yeah, I was kind of O_o about Oliver. Not quite sure how that's going to go for me, but, eh, I won't say anything or judge it until I see it with my own eyes. |

Been replaying this game on Easy mode... spoilers: Apparently in the scene where you have to decide whether Micaiah or Tauroneo should stab Pelleas to break the blood pact, if this file is a Replay file, there'll be a third "Refuse Outright" option that appears, and choosing that will end up sparing Pelleas from an unnecessary death and make him playable later on, totally working in line with the story. This is pretty cool! Also, late in Part 3, Sephiran can be playable for the final battle after you defeat him in the previous battle, if it's a Replay file and you have had Ike survive a hit from the Black Knight in a big mission late in Part 3. |

My sister and I HATE The game-breaking glitch with RD, dunno HOW intelligent Systems missed it. Thanks to the glitch I had to AR a hard mode file with everyone at 20/20 with maxed Stats lol At least RD has a fixed bonus for someone reaching maxed stats on PoR, so the game is still difficult to maneuver FYI, we've both beaten the game on Easy, but thanks to the glitch our files were for naught :( |

That was strange for sure. Having beat RD a second time, I'm really impressed by the way things happen differently at the end of a replay file, which generally give the game a happier ending while revealing even more secrets about some characters. |
