Come and Take It - Temple Tsundere

Oh, come now. The only things that took a long time in MM were the collecting of the Fairies and the Couple's Mask quest. Other than that, though, great game. |

And I had found I could not achieve the collecting of the Faeries in the fourth dungeon to the east... So I never got the Great Fairy Sword. ;.; And I tried doing the dungeon all over again for the GFS but called it off early on because it was much too tedious for me to consider worth it (I had beaten the game by that point, after all...) Obviously, then, I liked the game whenever it involved combat and there were actual puzzles that were mercifully restricted to being approached and solvable in one room. And I HAD gotten the Fierce Diety mask, but that itself took a lot of work that wasn't fun in itself... (And the Skulltula houses were REALLY not entertaining for me in the least!!!) The save system that requires you to pre-plan your activities and carry them out without interruptions IRL, as opposed to other save systems that dp what they're supposed to - which is allow you to do entire big objectives in multiple sittings and allow you to take care of IRL stuff in between-, caused the game to be not much true fun for me at all at more points than what I would have wished for. :/ |

>____> Really though, that's not bad at all. In the beginning, you couldn't save your games. You had to beat the entire thing in one sitting, or not beat it. Now obviously, they were much shorter games, but you don't have to beat ALL of Majora in one sitting. The only thing that made me mad about Majora was you had to go through a 3-day cycle before you could save it for the first time. Now, on-topic. In Phantom Hourglass, I love the controls. Originally, I thought: Man, this is gonna suck. The stylus won't work right. Of course, I got the game anyway, because it's Zelda. And of course, you have to try it. When I got it, and brought it home, and played it, I realized that the stylus controls were about the coolest I've ever played. I was disappointed, however. Everyone knows that there are parts in the game where you use the microphone. I'm bummed that there weren't more. |

If a modern game like a Zelda would demand that you use the pre-plan-your-schedule-to-accomodate-the-whole-game mindset of the non-savable games of old, then I would think that something's quite flawed there. >_> The dungeons of the other 3D Zeldas were starting to push it already as is with their save systems (where it only saves the progress of what you did and not your exact positioning in the dungeon temple like in Golden Sun games), so this much harsher save system apparently had no chance of being appreciated by me. "Hate" is a strong word that I always use lightly nowadays, but I remember back in 2001 I really couldn't help but hate the save system, which had deflated much of the experience, mainly the dungeons, into borderline abusive work. (And I had to copiously refer to the strategy guide the whole way.) And the limited save system was a real shame, because there was a lot of good stuff in there that I liked a lot otherwise, like the world's aesthetics/theme and its always-impending apocalypse, the time-traveling concept, the minigames, and the combat. But srsly, I had the most fun wandering around the overworld thwacking monsters like the dodongos and amassing Rupees to put in my bank account. >_> Well, hopefully I've at least proven by now that I don't "appreciate everything", which some ppl are starting to accuse me of. :/ |

I've never really had THAT much difficulty with the games, I didn't know people thought them that hard. As for Phantom Hourglass, my only complaint is how tedious it is to go through the Ocean King's temple over and over...and over...and over again. I got sick of it, and truthfully, haven't finished yet, because I don't feel like going down so many floors all over again. |

I like all the other Zeldas better, though. I had even played through TP's City in the Sky dungeon without any guides at all. =D |

Phantom Hourglass is awesome. Except for the $#)*ing Ocean Temple. If you take that out, you have a game that is much improved. Honestly, if I WANTED to do the same dungeon fifty bajillion times, I'd play through the entire game fifty bajillion times. |

The Majora's Mask save system wasn't all that bad for me, really. It gave a breath of fresh air to the game, did something no other game had done before (that I had played, anyway), and challenged you. And personally, I hate having to refer to a guide - the only thing I did that for in MM was the pieces of heart, which are teh brutes. Also, if you use the Reverse Song of Time to slow down time, you could easily beat any given dungeon in the first day. |

Well sure, I know all about the songs and stuff, and in-game time limits weren't ever an issue with me; I just really didn't like how in the middle of a dungeon I had to play the whole thing in one sitting without saving, instead being forced to pause and keep the N64 system running for large periods of time while I was away, which always happened. (My IRL lifestyle at the time pretty much made me depend on normal save systems in all my games...) And the way I was playing the dungeons made them really lengthy and huge projects to conquer through willpower and dedication because I always made collecting the fairies in them a focus. And I had succeeded in doing that for the first three, but not the fourth. :/ As for PH: I had started recently, so I've only been at the Ocean Temple once. Hmmm... The fact I'm being told about this repetitiveness in advance might cause it to be less annoying for me in the future, in a sense.

*plays* WHAT THE!? That had to be the craziest puzzle I've ever seen! There was genuinely no way I would have figured out on my own that I would have had to close the DS as the solution to solving the charting puzzle at the end of basement 6 of the ocean temple. >_> Sure, it's incredibly clever, but the fact I had to look up that answer online is what kinda makes me feel like a legitimately stupid individual. Zelda games tend to do that to me (prove I must be less intelligent than everyone else here). =/ I wonder how many other people here DID get that one on their own, though... |

To be honest, I've always not liked Zelda games over other series because they always prove to me personally that I really must be the stupid individual Draco and Jackal have always said I was in the Cbox (though that's toned down with them in recent months)... >___< Phantom Hourglass is the first Zelda Game in a long while to be legitimately entertaining. This time, I've completed the first three main dungeons without online help. |

While I still enjoyed it, Phantom Hourglass was my least favorite, because it was the least challenging (please note that I have not played OoT, MM, TP, or WW). I actually enjoyed doing the Temple of the Ocean King, trying to find a shorter way to finish it each time. I stumbled across the solution to the stamp puzzle by accident. I couldn't figure it out and got tired of playing, but since I hadn't saved in a while, I thought I'd just sleep the game for a little while and closed it. When I came back to it later, lo and behold, the puzzle was solved! |

My least would have to be PH too. But it's a good game. I love how you can customize your ship. ^_^ |

My absolutely favourite Zelda game may surprise you: It's Wind Waker. I have played all the games except Majora's Mask too. Wind Waker was just incredible to me. The environments, the music, every inch of the art style... it was a masterpiece. I loved sailing into the dawn light, heading back to Outset or Windfall (from anywhere), and so much more. And I know I'm not the only one who thinks so! |

Majora's Mask is my favourite out of the bunch. Also, do you know what annoys me most about Zelda games? *Flashback* Me: So, you're interested in Phantom Hourglass? Friend: Yeah. What's it about? You: Well, you have to travel as the main character over seas and around islands... Friend: Oh, Zelda? Me: >_> Everytime someone says that, I cry. |

I haven't played Majora's Mask, but I'm certainy fond of the Zelda games I've played. Wind Waker and Twighlight Princess are among my favorites. |
